YES benefits for teachers
Inspiring students is the key to successful teaching and finding a way to inspire them and yourself is a massive advantage.
Our Science Modules are hand picked and set up so you can be working with world leaders in their field. The projects are happening for a direct need of more knowledge and understanding of a particular area and are all ongoing and will be for the foreseeable future.
Youth Exploring Science in conjunction with STEMNET and the QCA has digitised the curriculum and all the subjects to cross reference these with the opportunities that a YES Science Module can provide you assistance with during your academic year. This gives you a quick reference guide to which module will suit your year best.
Mentors will visit your school to assist with UK classroom teaching and also be present on the Science Module if appropriate to the learning goals set out in the very beginning. The country field visit is a huge learning curve for all involved with the whole experience being safe but also very different from anything that people have taken part in before.
Students are encouraged to undertaken their own research project when on the visit and then produce the results in a formal presentation to be addressed to the rest of the school on their return.
Science Modules can also be followed by Schools via the Internet to follow the progress of the schools that are partaking in the full module structure. These modules do have a cost for the school to enrol and then there is a cost for the in country field visit for each student. There are several grant giving agencies that can be followed up by schools and teachers to help alleviate the financial strain.
The Science Modules are designed for all levels and can be adjusted to hit certain goals if they are important to specific teachers. However if you have a particular passion for a project and would like to get involved then please contact us and we can evaluate it on your behalf to see if it would work as a Module.
Teachers: If you and your students have ideas or plans that could create a new module with scientists who are working abroad on a similar project then YES may be able to help you. We welcome all suggestions, we will research the projects further to assess if it meets the criteria. If deemed suitable YES would take care of planning, Risk Assessments, Insurance, all staffing issues and provide relevant Mentors
